A thoughtful, airway-focused approach to identifying and supporting sleep-related breathing concerns.
What Is Sleep Apnea?
Sleep apnea is a condition in which breathing is repeatedly interrupted during sleep due to airway obstruction or collapse. These interruptions can reduce oxygen levels and disrupt restful sleep, often without the patient being aware of it.
Dentistry plays a crucial role in identifying oral and structural factors that may contribute to airway obstruction, including jaw position, tongue posture, and bite alignment. In appropriate cases, custom oral appliances may be used to support airway positioning during sleep as part of a collaborative treatment plan.
