If a tooth is missing, not only is it harder to chew properly and eat, the gap can cause dental problems as the remaining teeth shift and places for bacteria and disease develop. This missing tooth can lead to uneven, unattractive smiles with a tooth gap and decay or gum disease.
Dental bridge or dental bridgework designed and installed by a Beverly Hills dentist
at Bedford Dental Group can repair the conditions a missing tooth can create
and can provide years of service. A dental implant can also be used to replace
missing teeth, and it will act and function the same as your natural teeth.

Dental bridgework often requires two visits to our office, where you'll be treated
to the best service imaginable. During the first visit, an impression of your
mouth will be made and the teeth next to the gap will often be prepared for crowns
to hold the bridgework securely in place. The second visit is when your dentist
will install the device, which can be expected to last at least five to seven
years and often quite a bit longer.
A traditional dental bridge is fitted to teeth on each side of the gap caused
by the missing tooth or missing teeth. The anchor teeth may require a root canal
or other work to be made secure, and usually receive a dental crown to provide
the most secure fit. An artificial tooth, usually porcelain, is attached to the
metal framework and serves to bridge the gap. Other types of dental bridgework
include cantilever bridges, which are used when teeth remain on only side, or
a Maryland or resin-bonded bridge, which is permanently cemented onto the adjacent
teeth.
