Does it seem like your teeth have lost their luster and bright, white color? Maybe your teeth don’t have major problems, but they’re just not the perfect luminous smile you see in magazines or on T.V.. Or maybe you do notice a few problems such as overcrowding or gaps between your teeth. If this sounds like you and your smile, then you might want to consider Porcelain Veneers at Bedford Dental Group.

Porcelain veneers can change your smile without having heavy, invasive surgery. One of our highly experienced, Beverly Hills cosmetic dentists can change your smile from dull, gray, or spaced apart to straight, white and beautiful.
Veneers work by placing a porcelain shell or laminate over your original tooth. This veneer covers your existing enamel and covers any imperfections that your tooth had. A shiny and bright new surface is now adhered to your tooth. This can be done on one tooth or all of your teeth. A beautiful, new smile is always the result.

Don’t just fantasize about a beautiful smile, make it happen with porcelain veneers at Bedford Dental in Beverly Hills. Call and make an appointment today for your consultation. Speak with one of our highly trained cosmetic dentists and find out if Porcelain Veneers are right for you.

Fortunately today, it is possible to save a tooth with nerve damage by having root canal therapy. Inside every tooth is the pulp which runs down to the root like a thread. The pulp tissue can die if it becomes diseased or injured. The tooth can get infected if the diseased or dead pulp is not removed. If the infected tooth does not get treated, you could lose that tooth.

A root canal procedure can possibly save your tooth and make it stronger after the infection. This may be done in a series of one to three visits and involves the removal of the diseased pulp. The pulp chamber and canals of the root are cleaned out, removing all of the diseased pulp tissue, and is then sealed.

Your treatment starts with an opening through the crown of the tooth to reveal the pulp chamber. The infected pulp is removed and the canals are cleaned thoroughly and enlarged. A temporary filling will be placed in the opening to protect your tooth in between visits. Medicine may be given if necessary to help control infection.

The next step involves filling and sealing the pulp chamber and root canals after the temporary filling is removed and the area is cleaned. The final step is placing a crown over the tooth to protect and seal the exposed tooth. Your tooth is now healthy and strong again. The restored tooth can last a lifetime if proper care is taken.

They can appear dull, gray, and even have small chips. This is because of years of foods, drinks, and for some, smoking. Many people who want straight and bright smiles don’t want to have to go through months or years of wearing braces or Invisalign, but they would still love to have the perfect smile.

With Porcelain veneers, you can have a perfect smile without any tooth extractions or mouth reconstruction and can skip braces and Invisalign completely. Veneers can be placed on one tooth or as many teeth as you want. They can even correct crooked teeth or teeth that are gapped or spaced apart.

One of the highly trained cosmetic dentists at Bedford Dental Group can apply the veneers for you after you have had a consultation about your teeth. If your teeth and gums are healthy but you are unhappy with the appearance of your teeth, porcelain veneers can be an option and solution for your teeth and smile.

Your natural teeth that you wish to place veneers on will be smoothed down, to prepare it for the porcelain veneer. Once smoothed down, the veneer will go over the outer front layer of the tooth, covering the previous enamel. In return, you’ll have straight, beautiful, white teeth and a smile you can wear with confidence.

Small chips and fractures can be fixed with porcelain veneers, as well. If the nerve or root have not been damaged, veneers may be a good option. The same procedure applies for a chip or fracture and your natural tooth will be smoothed down to prepare it for the veneer. Call Bedford Dental Group in Los Angeles to schedule your porcelain veneer consultation with one of their experienced cosmetic dentists.

Depending on your specific condition and treatment, a different type of anesthesia will be administered. You could receive local anesthesia or sedation and general anesthesia. These anesthetics will help give you a pleasant, pain-free procedure while you’re awake or asleep.

Local anesthetics are given to numb the pain while you’re still awake. It only numbs the area that is going to be treated. Topical treatments are placed with a swab over the mouth tissue to numb the surface level in preparation for the injectable local anesthetic.

These local anesthetics, such as Novacain, will block nerve receptors that transmit pain. It will only affect the specific area or region where administered. The injected area will begin to feel numb and swollen as your dentist continues with the procedure. Sedatives may also be used along with local anesthetics to relax your body and calm anxiety.

More intricate procedures may require general anesthesia. This will allow you to sleep comfortably while your procedure is being done. You’ll have a loss of feeling and reduced consciousness while under general anesthesia. If you have severe anxiety or trouble controlling your movements, general anesthesia might be necessary no matter how complex your treatment is.

A gingival graft, also called gum graft, is a procedure that covers exposed tooth root using grafted oral tissue from other regions of the mouth. Your teeth are surrounded by pink gingival and mucosa tissue. The tissue forms a barrier to protect the tooth from bacteria and the gingival acts as protection during certain things such as eating and brushing your teeth. If the gingival and tissue start to recede, it can expose tooth root and a gum graft might have to be done.

A free gingival graft extracts a layer of tissue from the palate and is relocated to the site of gum recession. Sutures hold it in place to protect the exposed root. The area of the extracted donor tissue will heal on its own without any damage. This type of gingival graft is also used to increase the thickness of very thin gums.

Another type of graft takes tissue from underneath healthy gum tissue in the palate. This is called sub epithelial connective tissue graft. This procedure has excellent predictability of root coverage and less pain associated with the donor tissue site.

An acellular dermal matrix graft uses donated human skin that has been medically processed. There is no need for an actual donor site within the patients mouth. This is done when tissue cannot be extracted from another area of the mouth.

A lateral pedicle graft takes tissue adjacent to the damaged or receding gingival area. This can only be done if the surrounding tissue has not been effected by the damaged tissue area. The transplant tissue is cut away and rotated over the damaged area but increases the risk for more recession in the donor area.

Although the result is a straight smile, the road getting there isn’t very easy or painless.

Braces are more commonly made out of stainless steel, archwires, and brackets. Having these things in your mouth can be uncomfortable and bothersome, sometimes causing small abrasions on your cheeks and tongue. Food can get stuck in between them, plaque can build up, and you can forget about chewing gum while wearing them. Despite all of this, braces are very effective because they are in place 24 hours per day, continuously reshaping your teeth. Depending on your condition, braces are worn anywhere from 6 months to 6 years.

Invisalign offers an end to painful, traditional braces. A series of clear, removable teeth aligners are worn over your teeth. A different aligner is made for you to wear during each stage of use. You must wear your Invisalign aligner for 20-22 hours per day and only remove it when eating, drinking, or brushing your teeth. Because they are removable, they are not continuously reshaping your teeth. Getting straight teeth depends on the patients consistency and commitment with wearing them. Unlike traditional braces, they can also be misplaced or lost. Treatment is usually under one year, but possibly longer if required.

Both options lead to your beautiful, new smile so decide which one is right for you.

They’re permanent, can be done for one tooth or all, and they look and feel the same way as your natural teeth would. Dentures, however, are removable, can be slightly uncomfortable, and impede in regular activity.

Dentures can slip and move around in your mouth, preventing you from doing regular tasks such as talking or eating. It can be uncomfortable having to wear dentures for long periods of time which can cause your cheek and tongue to struggle when talking and forming words. Chewing certain foods might not be possible with dentures because they can break or chip. Sore spots in your mouth can occur as a result of the pressure and rubbing from the denture. Over time, your bone and mouth tissues shrink, causing the denture to not fit properly.

If your gums and bone structure within your jaw are still healthy and strong, dental implants can be your solution for tooth loss. It is fitted in or on the jawbone with a replacement tooth or bridge and permanently stays in place. The implants look and feel like your regular teeth and you take care of them the same way. Regular brushing and flossing will maintain their quality and ensure their longevity.

Whether you just need to replace one tooth or your whole set, dental implants can restore your smile and confidence. Talk with one of our cosmetic dentists to find out if you are a good candidate for dental implants.

Teeth Whitening and At-Home Whiteners " class="twitter-share-button">Tweet

There are several options to choose from when it comes to getting a whiter, brighter smile. To do it yourself, most stores sell at-home tooth whitening kits that come with strips or mouth trays. If you want something that lasts much longer, dentists offer tooth whitening procedures that can be done in about an hour.

With at-home whitening kits, you can either use strips that fit over your teeth or dental trays you fill with whitening gels. The main ingredient used in the strips is usually hydrogen peroxide. This is a bleaching agent that can bleach clothes or skin if contact occurs. The strips stick to your teeth and you wear them for about half an hour before discarding them. They can sometimes leave a weird taste and texture in your mouth.

The main ingredient in whitening gels is usually carbamide peroxide, an oxidising agent. You put the gel inside of the tray and wear it over your teeth. These trays are not custom fit and might not cover all of your teeth. It does, however, cover more teeth than whitening strips.

These at-home systems might work, but only temporarily and can be very messy. With ZOOM! Teeth Whitening, you can have a beautiful, white smile in about the same time as a regular dental visit. Using a higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide, the ZOOM! light speeds up its activation and allows your teeth to change up to 8 shades. Many dentists believe that ZOOM! is one of the safest dental procedures done today. With proper upkeep of your new smile, results from ZOOM! can last for years and your teeth will always be whiter than they were before.

It’s hard not to when so many people, including celebrities, are getting them done. If you’re unhappy with your smile or the way your teeth look, porcelain veneers can be your solution. You can finally have that beautiful, luminous smile you’ve always wanted.

Good candidates for porcelain veneers include people with good dental health. If your teeth are slightly crooked, have small spaces in between them, are slightly chipped, stained, have uneven surfaces, or you just want to have that perfect smile, your dentist can transform your teeth with porcelain veneers. They’ll be molded to fit over your healthy teeth to give you a straight and bright smile.

If you have extensive tooth decay, gum disease, gingivitis, major cracks in your teeth, or severe misalignment, porcelain veneers might not be right for you. Veneers must be placed on healthy teeth. If you tend to grind or clench your teeth excessively, this also makes you a poor candidate for porcelain veneers. The extra force can easily chip or break your veneers. If you only grind your teeth at night while you sleep, then a mouth guard must be worn every night.

If you lost a significant amount of tooth structure or have no enamel left on your teeth, there are other options instead of veneers. A veneer won’t strengthen your tooth if it has lost its structure and it can only be successfully bonded over tooth enamel.

If you think you are a good candidate for porcelain veneers and are ready to have the smile you’ve always wanted, talk to one of our cosmetic dentists and make an appointment. You’ll be one step closer to the perfect smile.
